Living in Majstranden

Arabianranta in Helsinki has developed in recent years into a business centre and an oasis for studies and students. The student accommodation at Majstranden on Arcada’s campus is located by the inner city’s eastern coast, at the heart of the science axis that stretches from the University of Helsinki’s central campus to the campus in Viikki. A stone’s throw from the flats can be found, apart from the Arcada University of Applied Sciences, the University of Helsinki’s Kumpula campus, among others. In Arabianranta, you can also find the Metropolia University of Applied Science’s Pop/Jazz Programme.

Majstranden’s student accommodation is located on Romgatan 5, Jan-Magnus Janssons plats 6 (Majstranden I), Byholmsgränden 3, 5 and 7 (Majstranden II) and on Byholmsgränden 6 (Majsporten).

The Arabia shopping centre is only 100 metres from the outer door and it offers all-round service (food stores, shopping, pharmacy, restaurants etc.). You are also close to the buses and trams, which will take you in to the centre of Helsinki in fifteen minutes.

In the campus area, you can also find Corhuset, the Arcada University of Applied Sciences’ students’ union building. At Corhuset, you can spend your free time, meet friends for a coffee and even make new acquaintances.

The campus borders on countryside and the sea surges only 150 m from the residential block. Arcada has a gym, which the University’s own students have the possibility of using. Close by there are excellent jogging tracks and in winter, the ski track passes under the window.
